Projects
- Built robust search functionality, by initializing state of a search term as an empty string, devising a methods to handle user input (i.e. state change) and filter through all entity instances to find a match.
- Enforced backend(Ruby on Rails) + frontend(React/Redux) user auth pattern.
- Designed pixel-perfect renditions of multiple pages, using media queries for scalability. Denizen Confidant will look just as good on a smart phone as it does on a laptop.
- Assembled 100 sound-effect + icon pairings to accompany the game's songs.
- Engineered event handlers to trigger & control a spinning frame with three random icons from the effects board.
- Invoked a style change on matching effects board icons, alerting the user to hover there and clear the icon off the board.
- Crafted Splash, Login and Register pages by researching many medical apps across the web and observing common themes, as well as basing styling on the content engineered by my fellow team members.
- Materialized engaging user-interface across the components I worked on, by applying CSS tricks such as box-shadow, filter, transform and one of my favorites, fun animations using the @keyframes method.
About me
I make websites. I do what I love and I love what I do. My nature is that of someone who is highly creative, driven, loves to solve puzzles and is always striving for improvement. The role of a software engineer fits me like a glove.
Prior to programming, I had pursued a career in acting for the better part of a decade. The reason: it was the most challenging thing I could do. I was terribly shy as a child and teenager, and wanted to change that more than anything. Mission accomplished.
I made the career switch at the tail end of 2019. Now I needed stability, which programming provided in addition to fulfilling my creative needs. I hit the ground running and set my sights on App Academy, a coding bootcamp with a mere 3% acceptance rate. Mission accomplished once again. In the next three months I’d spend 80-100 hours a week building my foundation as a full stack software engineer.
After graduating from App Academy, I continued to put in a similar amount of weekly hours toward truly mastering the languages & frameworks my trade demanded. It was self-guided until I entered the work force as a software engineer.
Since September 2020, I’ve had three wonderful opportunities to work at different companies.
